Do you wish you knew the secrets of a successful retirement?

Like how you'll manage the life and lifestyle transitions that retirement brings...

Or how to make sure you don't get bored and end up watching daytime TV for hours on end...

Or how to cope when you and your partner are together every day and, potentially, getting under each other's feet.  (Or, if you don’t have a partner, how you can avoid feeling lonely and isolated in retirement and continue to meet new people.)

Maybe you're worried about the expectations that other people have about your retirement? (Such as your grown-up kids who think you have nothing better to do than look after your grandkids every school holiday or an elderly parent who has their eye on you as their new, full-time carer.)

Maybe you're even wondering if retirement is the right choice for you and if you wouldn't be better off continuing to work in some capacity or even having a go at starting your own small business?

Well, I have a new way to help you with that and it's something that you can access within minutes from the comfort of your own living room!

You see, until now, you could only get hold of a copy of my pre-retirement course materials if you attended one of my courses.

Now, however, thanks to the launch of my ‘Get the Retirement You Deserve Home
Study Course’
you can get your hands on a copy no matter where you live in the
world, without having to enrol on the course and without even having to set foot
out of your door!

But, first, let me back up a little…

Does this sound like you?

You’re about to retire (or you’ve already retired) and it’s started to dawn on you that you
could spend up to 30 years in this next phase of your life and, more importantly, you’re
realizing that this next stage will be like no other period that you've experienced before...

For example, for the first time in your life:

  • You'll have all that extra time on your hands (an average 2,000 to 3,000 hours per year)

  • You'll potentially be living on a fixed income (and don’t even get me started on what's happened to the interest rates on savings over the last year!)

  • If you have a partner, you'll be learning how to be around each other on a full-time basis for, probably, the first time in your life

  • Whether you have a partner or you're single, you'll need to make sure that you keep in touch with your old friends, make some new ones and spend some time putting all the systems in place that’ll support you as you get older

  • You’ll have to get serious about your ‘bucket list’ of things that you still want to be, do and have (before it’s too late to be, do and have them)

  • You’ll have sole responsibility for providing yourself with a reason to get up in the morning and discovering a way to add structure and a sense of purpose to your days (which are all things that your work did for you before you retired)

  • You may have to manage other people’s expectations about how you will use your new-found time.  (For example, someone may have their eye on you as their new babysitter, caregiver or dog-walker.)

  • You’ll have the opportunity to examine some (or all) of the activities you engage in and decide whether they add to or detract from your enjoyment of life

  • You’ll finally have the time to really begin to take care of yourself and address any niggling (or not so niggling) health issues

But the thing is, you can’t use your parents’ experience of retirement as a road map for
your own retirement because you’re from the baby boom generation, and we baby
boomers are unique – we’re younger, richer, fitter, healthier and better educated than
previous generations of retirees.  The ‘rest and relaxation’ type of retirement that our
parents enjoyed is no longer enough for us - we have much higher expectations for
     ourselves.

And, although you already know, I’m sure, that it’s entirely up to you to make sure that
you get the retirement you deserve, wouldn’t you like to be able to handle all that stuff
easily and in a way that totally takes into account your wants, your needs and your
     personal circumstances?

                                Well now you can!

In the past, the only way you could get a copy of my Get the Retirement You
     Deserve
course materials was to enrol on the course.  Which was fine if you
lived in the north of England (or could travel there) but not so good if you
lived further afield, as many of the visitors to my website and blog do.

And this was a huge disappointment to me because I've been on a mission
for the last 5 years to save retirees like you from the usual pre-retirement
course.  You know the one - where delegates are subjected to a series of
'experts' who give talks on a range of retirement-related subjects that are
just thinly-disguised attempts to sell them their own financial products and
     services.

I wanted to teach more people about the different stages of retirement that
they'd progress through (there are 6 of them).  I wanted to let them know
about the potential pitfalls associated with each stage of retirement and
help them make plans to avoid those pitfalls.

I wanted them to discover their own, particular, retirement 'type' (I've identified
     four of them.)

And I wanted to take them through the Retirement Success Pyramid - my
unique system for helping you get the retirement you deserve and making
     retirement work for YOU!

So, for the first time, I’m releasing my materials as a Home Study Course…

to give you instant access to all the worksheets and let you work
through them (alongside your partner, if you have one),
in your own time,

at your own pace, in the privacy and comfort of your own home.
  (It’s a bit
like having me right there beside you in your living room or home office,
except you don’t have to feed me or anything and, when you’ve had enough
of me for one day, you can just shut me up by closing the cover! :))

You see, I’m acutely aware of the fact that, for many people, retirement will probably
be their last best chance to get the life that they’ve always wanted
– hopefully, a
life that they really, truly love!  Now, I have no wish to be rude, but none of us are getting
any younger and we have no idea what lies in our future.  If you're like most of us, you’ve
spent the biggest part of your life either at work, or travelling to and from work,
or engaged in activities in preparation for the next day’s work!  And you didn’t have
an awful lot of choice in the matter – unless you were very fortunate, you just got up
every morning and did what you had to do to pay the bills, keep body, soul and family
together and your head above water.

But now you’re set to retire, all that’s about to change.  For probably the first time in
your life, you can do what you want, when you want, with whom you want.  However…
you’ll never be this young again and, if I may, I’ll give you a tip from my 5 years’
experience of immersing myself in the subject of retirement and learning everything
     I could about it –

Don’t wait too long before really getting stuck into your retirement and doing all those things that you've always wanted to do - the things you've been 'saving' until you retired!

Don't be one of the many retired people who report that they 'wasted' the first 18 months
to 2 years of their retirement - ironically, the time when they were at their youngest -
because they started off by (understandably) “just having a rest for a couple of months”.
But before they noticed, the “couple of months” had turned into a couple of years and
feelings of dissatisfaction and even boredom were prompting them to do something
more fulfilling and positive with their time.

Of course, you deserve (and probably need) to have a rest and some chill-out time
immediately following your retirement.  It can help you make the adjustment to being
retired and give you some breathing space.  However, unless you put a limit on your
chill-out time, you're in danger of finding that the chill-out time has become your life
and is starting to get in the way of all the things you still want to be, do and have.  You're
starting to get lazy and you turn down a lot of the invitations that come your way
because they just involve too much effort.  Which is where the Get the Retirement
     You Deserve Home Study Course
comes in…

as your secret weapon against the retirement doldrums!

As you work your way through the Get the Retirement You Deserve Home Study
    Course
, you will:

  • explore the opportunities and options that are available to you in this next stage of your life and choose the ones that are right for you

  • determine the style of retirement that you're naturally drawn to by discovering your ‘retirement type’ and identifying some good role models for your particular type

  • work out what a successful retirement would look and feel like for you

  • examine strategies which will increase the probability of you getting the retirement you want and deserve to have

  • work out what the component parts of your ideal retirement would be, and then compare your version of your ideal retirement with that of your partner to see how you can blend the two together

  • identify goals that will help you attain your ideal retirement (or, if your chances of
getting your ideal retirement seem constrained by your current reality, help you identify the elements of your ideal retirement that you CAN incorporate into your life.)

  • consider the expectations that other people (such as your grown-up children and your elderly parents) hold about your retirement and make sure that there is no mismatch
of expectations that could lead to conflict later

  • make sure that you stay connected to other people and continue to make new friends once you're no longer working

  • look at ways to help you disengage from work and replace the 5 main benefits that we all receive from our work

  • determine if you're the sort of person who should continue to work, in some capacity, after retirement and, if you are, work out what your perfect post-retirement work would be

  • make a new commitment to your mental and physical health and wellbeing, so that you're fit and healthy enough to be able to enjoy your retirement and, as you get older, you give yourself the very best chance of being able to remain living in your own home, as independently as possible, for as long as possible

  • explore ways you can develop a satisfying portfolio of hobbies, interests and activities
and increase the amount of time you spend on activities that bring you satisfaction and
fulfilment (instead of those that just fill your time)

  • investigate how you can plan to meet your future needs, conserve and protect your existing resources and build the support systems that will underpin your life as you
    get older

  • learn how your home environment will need to support you as you get older and discover how well your current home matches up to the task

  • explore your potential for becoming a lifelong learner (and discover the advantages
    associated with continuing to learn)

  • determine what you want your (non-financial) legacy to be

  • prevent yourself becoming one of the 20% of people who get stuck in the 'disenchantment' stage of retirement (which can lead to dissatisfaction, and even depression, if it's not managed correctly)

  • learn how to balance your wants and needs with your partner's wants and needs and discover how to avoid getting under each other's feet once you retire

  • explore how you will use the extra time available to you once you retire

  • figure out if you have enough hobbies, interests and activities to keep you interested and connected and discover if there's a satisfying balance in your range of leisure activities

  • find at least one form of exercise that you enjoy and are able to sustain and find out what actions you can take to increase the chances of you taking daily exercise

  • discover (or rediscover) your passions in life and how you can actively pursue those
    passions every day

  • find out about your personal aging style and learn how that can help or hinder you in this next phase of your life

  • discover how your retirement doesn't have to be a gradual decline into old age,
infirmity and dependency, but how, instead, it can be a time of renewal, growth, exploration and purpose

  • draw up your 'bucket list' of things you still want to be, do and have in life

  • learn how to break your bucket list goals down into baby steps you can take daily
    action on

  • become aware of any limiting beliefs you hold about retirement and the aging process and learn how to overcome them
